- **Event Name**: Wild Times | Paul James
- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 20 Nov, 2025 at 06:30 pm – Thu, 20 Nov, 2025 at 08:00 pm
- **Event Description**: A new solo show by Paul James in Sol ArtAbout this Event‘Wild Times’ exhibition is a highly personal exposition of ‘Wildlife’ and ‘Wild Life’ comprising fabulous stunning paintings by international fine artist Paul James. As well as being an accomplished musician and composer Paul has been a professional painter for almost 4 decades and a resident of Ireland for the past 20 years or so. Alongside retrospective artworks this collection showcases how Paul’s progressive and unique artistic style has evolved over the past decade.A consummate, realist artist of wild life animals and the natural world there is also irony in the ‘Wild Times’ and challenges that society is facing.Paul’s powerful depictions of wild creatures within this collection are impactful in themselves. His intrinsic curiosity, intense passion for exposing truths, his dogmatic questioning nature, all resonate within these newer pieces. Imagery that is fierce, unafraid and does not shy away from uncomfortable subject matter. Instead, Paul confronts the viewer, inviting them to perhaps take a closer look, delving beneath the mainstream surface and drawing their own conclusions. It is this rebellious artistic streak within him that ensures Paul’s work remains highly relevant, fresh and pertinent today. That being said the show offers a diverse range of images, to suit a variety of interests and tastes, all executed in Paul’s inimitable style; sheer craftsmanship, with incredible attention to detail in every brushstroke. You may find solace from observing his exquisite landscapes; many of which have an ethereal quality evoking a sense of calmer times. Paul’s skill in depicting both light and atmosphere, is apparent within these beautiful scenes.Alternatively, you may find joy in his expressive animal characters and note elements of Paul’s sense of humour throughout. Art has always been subjective, which in itself represents our freedom to choose what we like or dislike, what we approve or disapprove of, what we see or choose not to see.A wry dry sense of humour maybe or a deep subliminal message. There is no right or wrong answer. Paul presents you the observer, you the interpreter, with the choice to make that decision for yourself. He just asks that you let his artworks speak for themselves and open your mind to all the possibilities they offer.Join us on Thursday the 20th of November from 6.30pm for the opening.Ps Anyone who books a ticket and joins us for the opening is in with a chance of winning a print worth €450!

"description": "Sol Art Gallery represents and promotes the work of national and international, emerging and mid-career, visual artists.\r\nThe new gallery is centrally located on D'Olier Street which is a 5 minute walk from Trinity College and Dublin's main shopping district Grafton St. Sol Art blends a monthly gallery exhibition list throughout the year with a calendar of global art fairs.\r\nFrom 2010-2014 Sol Art Gallery held major exhibitions within the old gallery on Dawson St and appeared at art fairs in London, New York, Edinburgh, Dublin, Milan and Singapore\r\nIn June 2012 Sol Art co-hosted the inaugural Dublin Biennial.\r\nEarly 2015 saw the emergence of London Irish Art, a multi-disciplinary initiative, co-hosted by Sol Art, displaying over 40 visual artists in the impressive 3000 square foot space of Central Hall, Westminster. Over 500 people attended the opening night.\r\nActively promoting and representing our artists to the international market, Sol Art aspires to be global players on the world stage of contemporary art. While keeping our feet firmly placed in the Irish and UK markets, 2015 also saw us travelling to Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore. The 2016 calendar included another strong line up of gallery exhibitions and international art fairs, including New York in the autumn of 2016.\r\n2017 marked another year of success both on the national and international stage. The notable gallery shows included exciting Dublin pop artist, Duda whose work is now exhibited in a permanent collection in One World Trade Centre in New York. Duda painted a 3000sqft homage to the people who lost their lives. 'Breakfast Epiphanies' opened in the gallery on December 7th and was attended by well over 150 people.\r\nAlea Pinar Du Pre's first solo exhibition in Ireland, 'FaceTime' was another exciting show that we hosted in 2017. Her work has taken the Irish market by storm with her pop portraiture having not been seen here before. The exhibition was a massive success and a complete sell-out.\r\nOn the international stage, Sol Art continued its success in exhibitions in London, New York and Chicago at SOFA.\r\nWe hope you enjoy exploring our collection. \r\nIf you have any queries please contact us at info@solart.ie or +353 (0)1 675 0972."
